Air Peace has officially paused all flight operations at Benin Airport. This action follows the sudden closure of the facility’s runway after an unauthorized incursion.
The airline released a statement on Thursday confirming the disruption. The company noted that the decision was forced by events outside of their management, while apologizing to travelers for the sudden change in schedules. Air Peace expressed gratitude for passenger patience while officials work to reopen the airport.
The suspension follows a specific incident involving an Air Peace Embraer E170, which was flying from Lagos to Benin as Flight 4264. The plane experienced a runway excursion, overshooting the end of Runway 05 during its landing attempt.
The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau is currently looking into the event. Officials confirmed that all 63 passengers and five crew members on board the plane are safe, with zero injuries reported. The NSIB is expected to publish a preliminary report regarding the occurrence within the next month.
