Governor Mbah addresses Enugu Air runway event at Benin Airport

Governor Peter Mbah has spoken out regarding a recent Enugu Air runway excursion in Benin, offering sympathies to those on board and pledging full support for the ongoing investigation.

Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah has publicly commented on a runway incident that took place Thursday involving the state-affiliated airline, Enugu Air, at the Benin Airport in Edo State.

In an official statement released Friday, the governor offered his sympathy to the 63 passengers and five crew members aboard flight 4264, which was traveling from Lagos to Benin on July 23, 2026. He expressed relief that the event resulted in no injuries or fatalities.

Mbah praised the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau for its rapid response in beginning an inquiry into the incident. The governor pledged the full cooperation of Enugu Air with regulatory bodies to identify the factors behind the excursion.

Emphasizing the company’s commitment to traveler security, Mbah noted that Enugu Air maintains safety protocols that exceed standard industry requirements. He stated that the airline prioritizes operational integrity over scheduling pressures, maintaining that these rigorous standards will remain the foundation of their future service.
