Employees at Air Peace Limited have officially distanced themselves from the recent picketing activities organized by aviation labor unions, stating they do not support the ongoing industrial action. This protest, which has caused flight cancellations and delays in Lagos and Abuja, does not reflect the views of the airline’s workforce.
Speaking on behalf of the staff, Aminu Suleiman explained that Air Peace personnel have maintained direct communication with management for over a decade. He emphasized that the decision to join a union remains a personal choice protected by Section 40 of the Nigerian Constitution and the Trade Union Congress guidelines. Suleiman argued that staff members are already satisfied with their current compensation, health insurance, and internal engagement processes.
The workers accused labor unions of fostering unnecessary conflict between management and staff. They believe their internal relations with the airline are sufficient, making external intervention redundant. Meanwhile, the industrial action by the NLC, ATSSSAN, and TUC continues to block access to major terminals, leaving many passengers stranded at both the Murtala Muhammed International Airport and the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport.
