Governor Ahmadu Fintiri officially installed the 21 new local government chairmen for Adamawa State on Wednesday, explicitly instructing them to remain accessible to their constituents. Speaking at the ceremony in Yola, the Governor emphasized that these officials were not appointed to reside in the state capital.
Fintiri insisted that the chairmen must maintain a consistent presence within their specific council areas, ensuring that residents can easily connect with them. He explicitly stated that he expects to see them working in their respective jurisdictions rather than idling in Yola.
State Chief Judge Justice Hafsat Abdulrahman administered the oath of office to the chairmen, who emerged victorious in the elections held on June 13, 2026. Representing the group, Yola North chairman Ibrahim Jimeta expressed gratitude to the Governor for his support of grassroots democracy and pledged that the leadership would remain available to the public.
These 21 leaders, which include one woman, are set to collaborate with 226 newly elected councillors to manage local governance across the state.
