The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) declared on Sunday that the release of its presidential and National Assembly candidates by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially concluded months of uncertainty regarding its status for the 2027 general elections. The party maintains this milestone confirms its eligibility and disproves claims made by critics.
National Publicity Secretary Hon. Jungudo Haruna Mohammed confirmed the inclusion of Distinguished Senator Prof. Sandy Ojang Onor as the presidential nominee and Alhaji Babangida Umar as his running mate. According to the party, this formal recognition negates the prolonged speculation that the PDP might fail to secure a spot on the ballot due to internal leadership and legal issues.
The PDP leadership stated that this action effectively dismantled widespread misinformation intended to weaken the party’s standing with the public. They expressed gratitude to their supporters for maintaining loyalty during this volatile period and thanked INEC, the judiciary, and security agencies for adhering to the rule of law.
