Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has designated Tuesday, July 28, 2026, as a non-working day. This move is intended to provide civil servants and other government employees the opportunity to secure their Permanent Voter’s Cards (PVCs).
Olawale Rasheed, the governor’s spokesperson, released a statement on Monday explaining that this break aims to ensure staff can meet their civic responsibilities before the registration period concludes. A formal circular distributed throughout the public service sector emphasized that this measure facilitates participation in upcoming gubernatorial elections.
Certain staff members, such as security personnel and medical professionals, are exempt from this holiday. They have been instructed to coordinate internal schedules to ensure that critical public services remain uninterrupted.
Governor Adeleke stressed the importance of the upcoming election for the state’s future. He encouraged both public and informal workers to obtain their cards quickly, emphasizing that a voter’s card is an essential tool for exercising one’s democratic power at the polls.
