Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State has officially launched a 25-person reconciliation panel. This initiative aims to address internal conflicts within the All Progressives Congress (APC) to better position the party for the 2027 electoral cycle.
Addressing the gathering on Thursday, the governor requested that party members who felt aggrieved by recent primary elections and local council polls choose reconciliation over ongoing conflict. He acknowledged that while recent political efforts were generally productive, some members felt slighted by the outcomes.
The governor remarked that human error is inevitable, stating that only the divine is perfect. He entrusted the leadership of this new committee to Deputy Governor Dr. Manassah Daniel Jatau. The group is tasked with using constructive dialogue to mend relationships and solidify party cohesion.
Governor Inuwa emphasized that internal harmony is vital for future electoral success. He urged members to end disputes and focus on creating a united, powerful party. The committee has been instructed to act impartially and maintain strict discretion in their proceedings. They have the flexibility to expand their membership or delegate tasks across the state’s three senatorial zones.
The strategic target is for the APC to defend its existing political offices in Gombe while securing at least one million ballots for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu during the 2027 race. In his acceptance speech, Dr. Jatau expressed his gratitude for the assignment and promised a dedicated effort to restore unity and bolster the party’s performance.
