Professor Mahmood Yakubu, serving as Nigeria’s Ambassador to Qatar, has officially delivered his Letters of Credence to the Amir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. The event occurred at the Amiri Diwan in Doha this Thursday and was marked by traditional diplomatic formalities, such as the review of a Guard of Honour.
A statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, released by spokesperson Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, confirmed that Yakubu was joined by high-ranking embassy staff. During a private meeting with the Amir, Yakubu delivered personal messages of goodwill from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Both leaders expressed a desire to enhance bilateral relations across sectors including education, trade, security, and humanitarian efforts.
Furthermore, Ambassador Yakubu extended his sympathies to the Amir regarding a recent industrial incident at Ras Laffan. The dialogue focused on building upon existing diplomatic progress to solidify the partnership between Nigeria and Qatar.
