The Nigerian High Commission situated in Pretoria has launched a digital platform for citizens currently in South Africa who desire to move back to Nigeria. This initiative is part of the Federal Government’s wider effort to assist those wishing to return home voluntarily.
An official notice released on August 4, 2026, confirms the portal will accept applications until the end of August 12, 2026. Officials have clarified that this service is intended exclusively for Nigerian citizens, and all submitted data will remain private and be utilized only for official processing purposes.
Registration is completely free of charge. The mission cautioned that submitting an application does not secure a seat on a flight, as requests are subject to established guidelines and logistics. Furthermore, the High Commission has urged citizens to avoid congregating outside the embassy offices, as the entire system is handled remotely.
Successful applicants will receive direct communication from the mission regarding any future developments. This effort follows a recent period during which the government successfully facilitated the return of 1,490 Nigerians across seven distinct flights, a move prompted by widespread concerns over xenophobic incidents in the region.
