Nigeria’s Federal Government has called upon state authorities to utilize their enhanced financial resources to guarantee quality education for all children. Prof. Suwaiba Said Ahmad, the Minister of State for Education, highlighted this necessity during an inspection of schools in Jigawa State’s Ringim Local Government Area, conducted as part of the National Learning Assessment Week.
Prof. Ahmad emphasized that state leaders now possess the fiscal capacity to improve learning facilities and address the persistent issue of children being out of school. She urged these officials to place education at the forefront of their state policies, pledging federal support for these endeavors.
A key development mentioned by the minister is the upcoming initiative to enroll 5,000 out-of-school children back into the formal education system in Jigawa. This project is a component of a broader national strategy to mitigate student exclusion. Furthermore, the newly introduced National Learning Assessment aims to create a unified framework for evaluating student performance, replacing the previous disjointed evaluation systems.
The minister expressed approval of the examination processes in Jigawa and reiterated that a strong partnership between state and federal authorities is essential for creating inclusive educational opportunities throughout Nigeria.
