The Nigerian government has sent a specialized Passport Intervention Team from the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) headquarters to the United Kingdom to simplify passport processing for citizens living abroad. Interior Minister Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo ordered this deployment, which is being executed by Comptroller General of Immigration Kemi Nandap.
Scheduled to land on August 10, 2026, the team will partner with the Nigerian High Commission to handle pending, new, and renewal applications. They will travel to various cities to provide services to applicants across the UK. This program is available to those with existing backlogged applications, first-time applicants, and individuals whose passports are expiring within one year.
Applicants must bring their completed forms and payment verification to their appointments. The NIS warned that residents should wait for an official announcement detailing dates and locations before visiting any facility. Updates will be posted on the High Commission’s official channels.
