Federal Government applauds Oyo teachers for ending strike through talks

The Federal Government praised the end of the teachers’ strike in Oyo State, highlighting the success of dialogue in ensuring students return to their classrooms.

The Federal Government expressed satisfaction as teachers in Oyo State officially ended their industrial action. This resolution ensures that thousands of students can resume their education without further interruption.

This outcome was reached through coordinated discussions between the Federal Ministry of Education, Oyo State officials, and the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT). Education Minister Tunji Alausa highlighted that the settlement demonstrates a shared commitment to putting students first.

Minister Alausa commended Governor Seyi Makinde for his approach in handling the disagreement, as well as NUT leaders including Audu Titus Amba and Hassan Ajibola Fatai for their cooperation. The minister emphasized that President Bola Tinubu’s administration is dedicated to protecting schools from security threats, ensuring that criminals cannot disrupt the right to learn.

Finally, Alausa praised the dedication of teachers nationwide. The Ministry of Education plans to continue working with state authorities and security forces to maintain school safety and protect educational access under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
