A long-standing land disagreement between the Ejingi and Kakpiyi communities in the Agaie Local Government Area of Niger State turned violent, resulting in one fatality and the destruction of three homes. Security analyst Zagazola Makama reported the incident on X this past Tuesday.
The confrontation took place on July 11 when individuals from the Kakpiyi area allegedly raided Ejingi Village. Reports indicate the attackers carried weapons and proceeded to damage local farmland and ignite three rooms. During the assault, 27-year-old Muhammed Alfa was shot and subsequently died from his wounds.
Local police arrived at the scene shortly after the attack to stabilize the area. Makama noted that authorities transported Alfa’s body to the General Hospital in Agaie for an autopsy before releasing it to his relatives for burial according to Islamic traditions. Law enforcement officials have since established order in the region. Police have confirmed the arrest of one suspect and are currently searching for other participants involved in the violence.
