Steve Borthwick and his England rugby squad have adjusted their travel plans in Argentina to ensure a restful night before their flight home. The team is moving from a city-center hotel in Buenos Aires to a location near the international airport for Sunday night. This decision follows disruptive celebrations in the capital, where fireworks and massive crowds gathered near the squad’s original hotel after Argentina’s football team advanced to the World Cup final.
Borthwick noted that sleep was hard to come by, with festivities lasting until 4:00 AM. Despite the noise, he acknowledged the unique atmosphere, noting that some players watched the jubilant scenes from the hotel terrace. The coach also addressed an incident involving Henry Pollock, who was recorded gesturing toward local fans from a team bus. Borthwick defended the 21-year-old’s actions, describing them as good-natured behavior that adds character to the squad.
England is currently preparing for their final match of the summer tour against Argentina, taking place Saturday in Santiago del Estero. The team remains focused on the field, retaining the same starting lineup that defeated Fiji last week, while Argentina’s roster features several players currently competing in English domestic leagues.
