Ekiti Election: Governor Oyebanji Seeks Public Calm Amidst Technical Voting Delays

Governor Biodun Oyebanji has appealed for patience among Ekiti voters as technical issues with biometric devices delay polling across the state.

Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji has requested that citizens maintain their composure while officials work to fix technical malfunctions that have hindered voter accreditation and slowed down polling station operations during this Saturday’s governorship election. The Governor issued this message after completing his own vote at Polling Unit 003, located in the Oyebanji Compound within the Ekiti West Local Government Area.

Across various regions of the state, voters have faced obstacles, specifically with biometric equipment failing to verify identities, which has stalled the start of voting in several precincts. In response, Governor Oyebanji shared his belief that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) will fix these glitches, guaranteeing that no qualified person is blocked from participating. He encouraged the electorate to stay orderly and maintain faith in the election officials. According to the Governor, INEC representatives have promised that all citizens present at their units will receive the opportunity to cast their ballots.
