EFCC Arraigns Man for Impersonating ‘Mia Khalifa’ on Twitter
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Lagos Zonal Directorate 1, has arraigned a man, Collins Musa Inu Umoru, for allegedly impersonating an adult film star on social media to commit fraud.
Umoru was brought before Justice Daniel Osiagor of the Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos, on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, on a two-count charge related to fraudulent impersonation.
According to the EFCC, between September 2024 and June 2025, the defendant operated a Twitter account falsely claiming to be “Mia Khalifa,” with intent to defraud unsuspecting victims and procure financial instruments.
One of the charges reads:
“That you, COLLINS MUSA INU UMOR, … held yourself out as a white woman ‘MIA KHALIFA’ on your Twitter account … with intent that the representation is relied upon for the purpose of procuring the issuance of financial instrument to yourself…”
Umoru pleaded not guilty.
His lawyer, Abdullahi Tony Daniel, told the court the defendant is a student from a reputable family and urged the court to release him temporarily into his custody.
Justice Osiagor granted bail of ₦5 million with one surety in the same amount. The surety must be a relative of the defendant with verifiable means of livelihood and must submit two passport photographs.
Pending the full perfection of bail conditions, Umoru was released to his lawyer.
The case was adjourned to November 25, 2025, for the commencement of trial.
