Eddie Hearn: Anthony Joshua Must Approve Any Changes to Move Fury Fight to US

Eddie Hearn asserts that the Anthony Joshua vs. Tyson Fury bout is firmly set for the UK, noting that any shift to the US requires fresh contract negotiations and Joshua’s approval.

Eddie Hearn has clarified that the highly anticipated heavyweight showdown between Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury is contractually obligated to occur in the UK. Any proposal to relocate the event to the United States would necessitate a full renegotiation of terms, requiring the explicit consent of Joshua and his team. Hearn affirmed that without such an agreement, the fight is guaranteed to proceed in the UK this year.

While rumors suggest Las Vegas could host the bout, Hearn confirmed he has received no formal request from Saudi Arabian backer Turki Alalshikh to shift the venue. He emphasized the collaborative relationship with Alalshikh but insisted that the current contract remains the blueprint. Regarding the involvement of UFC president Dana White, Hearn rejected claims that Zuffa Boxing has a promotional role. He noted that the existing contract excludes White and his associates unless all parties consent to a formal change.

A meeting between promoters is expected next week to finalize details. Hearn stressed that the only genuine threats to the 2026 event are potential losses by either boxer in their respective upcoming interim bouts. Despite personal friction with White and the complex logistics involved, Hearn remains confident in the fight’s trajectory while maintaining a firm stance on protecting the established contractual agreements.
