Delta State authorities intercept kidnapping scheme, detain suspect

Ughelli police have successfully stopped a kidnapping plot targeting a pastor and a retired principal, leading to the arrest of 26-year-old Jeremiah Kwane and the seizure of a firearm.

Law enforcement officials from the Ughelli ‘A’ Division successfully disrupted a conspiracy to abduct a local pastor and a former school principal. Officers apprehended the primary suspect and seized a single-barrel shotgun along with two live rounds of ammunition.

Delta State Police spokesperson Bright Edafe verified the operation in a recent press release. Acting on reliable intelligence, police discovered that 26-year-old Jeremiah Kwane was attempting to organize a criminal group specifically to target the two individuals in Ughelli.

Kwane was captured by police at his workplace following the tip-off. He is currently in custody as detectives continue their inquiry into the plot. Commissioner of Police Yemi Oyeniyi commended the team’s swift response. He emphasized that the state command remains committed to eradicating violent crime and requested that the public continue providing helpful information to ensure community safety.
