The Osun State Police Command has taken three individuals into custody following a targeted operation at a known criminal hotspot in Osogbo. Representing Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Gotan, spokesperson DSP Abiodun Ojelabi confirmed that the arrests occurred at 10:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 1, 2026, near Ede Junction.
The individuals detained are Musa Taoreed, alias “Toyo,” Musa Muritala Akinde, and Muri Akinni. They are being held as authorities probe their potential connection to various criminal acts. The police stated that these raids are part of a broader, long-term initiative to enhance public security and uphold the law throughout the state, especially with the upcoming governorship election.
Officials explicitly refuted claims that these security measures are politically motivated. The Command emphasized that the operations are strictly professional and intended to remove criminal elements from society regardless of political affiliation. They warned that mischaracterizing these efforts could lead to public confusion and unnecessary strain.
Commissioner Gotan urged parents to monitor the activities of their children, specifically advising against late-night outings and associations with suspicious individuals. Furthermore, he encouraged all residents to assist law enforcement by reporting unusual behavior. The Command reaffirmed its dedication to remaining impartial and lawful in its ongoing efforts to secure Osun State.
