Music artist Davido recently lashed out at Paulo Okoye, a music promoter and partner of actress Iyabo Ojo, regarding his recent comments about Afrobeat. Paulo had expressed frustration over the high booking fees charged by prominent Nigerian musicians, publicly questioning if the genre was currently in a state of decay or dormancy.
Bankulli, a Grammy-nominated musician and industry executive, challenged Paulo’s narrative. He suggested that the promoter’s complaints were rooted in an inability to pay the rates demanded by top-tier performers. Davido echoed this sentiment in the comments section, directly calling Paulo broke with the phrase, “PAUL O AKA PAUL BROKE.”
This confrontation follows a period of history between the two, as Paulo had previously stood up for Davido when the singer faced backlash for comments regarding the Nigerian economy. Iyabo Ojo publicly revealed her relationship with Paulo during her 45th birthday event in late 2022.
