The Federal High Court in Abuja has scheduled September 24, 25, and 26, 2025, for the Federal Government to wrap up its case in the long-running trial of former National Security Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki (retd.), over alleged unlawful possession of firearms and money laundering.
Justice Peter Lifu directed the prosecution to present any remaining witnesses and tender all outstanding exhibits before Dasuki begins his defence. The former NSA has been on trial since 2015 on seven amended counts filed during the administration of the late ex-President Muhammadu Buhari.
At the previous hearing, prosecution witness Monsur Mohammed, an exhibits keeper with the Department of State Services, testified that multiple searches were conducted at Dasuki’s residences in Abuja, Kaduna, and Sokoto after his arrest.
Items recovered from his Asokoro home included electronic devices, cheque books, a Visa card, CDs, a laptop, a flash drive, foreign currency, and financial documents, all of which were admitted as exhibits without objection from the defence.
Mohammed also told the court that $150,000 and N37.6 million were seized from another property in Sabo Birni, Sokoto State, and deposited at the Central Bank of Nigeria. No items were found at a property on Sultan Abubakar Road, Sokoto.
The prosecution indicated plans to present the recovered cash in court as exhibits and requested an adjournment to tender additional materials from other searches. Justice Lifu granted the request but warned that the government must be ready to close its case at the next hearing, after which the defence will open its case.
