The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Rev. Dr. William Uzochukwu Okoye, the founder of the All Christians Fellowship Mission and a former Chaplain at Aso Rock Villa. Leadership within the organization characterized him as a dedicated spiritual leader whose absence is a significant blow to the Nigerian Church.
A prominent figure in Pentecostal circles, Rev. Okoye held numerous influential roles throughout his career. He served as the FCT Chairman for both CAN and the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), and he acted as the National Director for Social Welfare and National Issues for CAN. Additionally, he provided spiritual guidance as Chaplain to two Nigerian heads of state.
Archbishop Daniel Okoh, the President of CAN, issued a formal statement conveying condolences to the bereaved family, including his widow, Rev. Mrs. Toyin Okoye, and the congregation of the All Christians Fellowship Mission. The association also acknowledged the legacy of his late first wife, Mrs. Helen Okoye, who supported his ministry for many years.
Reflecting on his life, Archbishop Okoh praised the late cleric for his commitment to spreading the Gospel, mentoring future leaders, and fostering ecclesiastical unity. Beyond his pastoral duties, Rev. Okoye contributed to public life through his work with the Nigerian Christian Pilgrims Commission, the National Political Reform Conference, and the Presidential Advisory Council on Youth Affairs.
Archbishop Okoh highlighted Rev. Okoye’s integrity and gentle demeanor, noting that he earned widespread respect across various denominations. CAN leaders have encouraged the community to honor his memory by celebrating his lifelong dedication to God and humanity, while praying for comfort for those he leaves behind.
