Dominik Szoboszlai commits to new long-term Liverpool contract

Liverpool midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai has secured his future at the club by signing a new five-year contract that runs until 2031.

Liverpool midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai has signed a five-year extension, keeping him at Anfield until 2031. The 25-year-old Hungarian, who arrived from RB Leipzig in 2023 for 60 million pounds, was a standout during an otherwise difficult 2025/26 campaign for the club, contributing 13 goals and 12 assists.

After months of discussions between his representatives and sporting director Richard Hughes, an agreement was reached this week. The club views the playmaker as a cornerstone of their future, especially as the dressing room undergoes significant changes following the departures of several senior players. With Andy Robertson exiting, the national team captain is now a primary candidate for the vacant vice-captaincy.

Although the team struggled last season, Szoboszlai earned the club’s player of the season honors. Former manager Arne Slot had previously noted his potential to grow into a more vocal leader within the squad. Having returned to Merseyside for pre-season training, he is scheduled to join the team for their upcoming tour in the United States. His decision to sign represents a significant victory for the club as they look to build around younger talent under manager Andoni Iraola.
