Chelsea have ramped up their efforts to sign Maxence Lacroix following productive negotiations with Crystal Palace officials. The two clubs are currently handling the potential transfer directly, with reports suggesting the conversations have been encouraging.
Although Palace hoped to secure the 26-year-old on a contract extension, Lacroix is reportedly seeking a fresh opportunity elsewhere. Palace are seeking at least £60m for the defender and have begun scouting replacements, including Augsburg’s Chrislain Matsima.
Lacroix joined Palace in 2024 for £18m and has since featured in 98 matches, notably helping the squad secure the Conference League title against Rayo Vallecano. His international background with France and proven Premier League pedigree have made him a top priority for Chelsea. Should the transfer proceed, it may cast doubt on the future of Trevoh Chalobah, who is currently linked to a move to Como.
Separately, Chelsea are nearing a separate £117m agreement to acquire Aston Villa forward Morgan Rogers.
