CAC Sets August 2026 Deadline for Business Letterhead Compliance

The Corporate Affairs Commission has announced that all businesses must update their letterheads to include specific director information and registration details by August 1, 2026, or face penalties.

The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has mandated that all businesses must align their official letterheads with statutory requirements by August 1, 2026. Failure to adhere to these rules will result in penalties for the affected organizations.

This directive follows Sections 304(1) and (2) as well as 729(1)(c) of the Companies and Allied Matters Act (CAMA) 2020. The mandate covers every entity registered under this act or previously existing legislation. Businesses are required to list the full names and initials of every director, alongside any former names. If a director is not a Nigerian citizen, their nationality must also be explicitly stated.

Furthermore, company correspondence must clearly display the registered business name, the official registration number, and the address of the registered office. The CAC has advised companies to update their official documentation before the enforcement date to avoid potential sanctions. This initiative is designed to bolster corporate transparency and ensure that firms provide verifiable information regarding their leadership and identity.
