Bruno Guimaraes has expressed his ambition to create a legacy at Arsenal after completing a £75 million transfer from Newcastle United. The Brazilian midfielder, who previously captained the Magpies, joined the defending Premier League champions on a long-term agreement that reportedly spans four years with an additional one-year option.
Reflecting on his move, the 28-year-old cited his conversations with sporting director Andrea Berta and manager Mikel Arteta as a major influence on his decision. Guimaraes noted that after competing in two World Cups, he was seeking a fresh professional challenge and believes the North London club is the ideal environment to pursue major silverware.
Berta highlighted the versatility of the new recruit, praising his ability to operate as both a defensive and box-to-box midfielder. Guimaraes concludes his tenure at St James’ Park having made 195 appearances and scoring 31 goals, playing a key role in the club’s 2025 League Cup victory. He joins an Arsenal midfield already featuring Declan Rice, Myles Lewis-Skelly, Martin Zubimendi, and Mikel Merino as the club prepares for the upcoming Community Shield match against Manchester City.
