Brighton & Hove Albion have secured a record-breaking £46m agreement to sign Croatian defender Luka Vuskovic from Tottenham Hotspur. The deal, which could reach £50m with performance-based add-ons, follows two previously rejected bids by the club. The 19-year-old is expected to undergo a medical examination following Croatia’s current World Cup campaign, which includes an upcoming match against Portugal.
Originally from Split, Vuskovic rose through the Hajduk academy and holds the record for being the youngest player to debut in the Croatian top flight. Although he signed with Tottenham in 2023, he has not yet played for the London club, having spent last season on loan at Hamburg in Germany, where he impressed with six goals in 30 appearances. He is set to join Fabian Hurzeler’s squad as a direct replacement for Jan Paul van Hecke. Interestingly, Van Hecke is heading to Tottenham as part of a separate £52m transfer agreement.
