Borno school discloses identities of 36 students abducted by Boko Haram

Government Day Secondary School in Borno has identified 36 students abducted during a recent Boko Haram raid while they were writing their NECO examinations.

Government Day Secondary School in Lassa, located within the Askira/Uba Local Government Area of Borno State, has published the names of 36 students currently held by Boko Haram. The group was seized during a raid on the institution this past Monday.

These students were taking the National Examinations Council (NECO) Senior School Certificate Examination when militants invaded the school grounds and kidnapped them alongside several teachers. The school records indicate that the group of missing individuals consists of 25 girls and 11 boys.

In response to the abduction, military personnel from Operation HADIN KAI, assisted by the Nigerian Air Force, initiated a rescue mission. They followed the insurgents into the surrounding wilderness, leading to an armed confrontation. The Borno State Government has confirmed that the kidnapped students are between 15 and 18 years old as recovery efforts remain ongoing.
