Birmingham City have finalized the signings of defender Millie Turner and midfielder Lisa Naalsund, both arriving from Manchester United. The duo, who recently announced their engagement, reportedly commanded six-figure transfer fees as Birmingham bolsters its squad for its return to the Women’s Super League.
Turner, 30, served Manchester United for eight years, appearing 189 times and contributing to their 2024 FA Cup victory. She has signed a three-year contract with her new club, with Birmingham manager Amy Merricks praising her leadership and elite experience. Meanwhile, the 31-year-old Naalsund moves to Birmingham after logging 74 appearances and eight goals for United. The Norwegian international, who previously secured consecutive league titles with Brann, stated that the club’s ambitious project and the positive atmosphere influenced her decision to join.
Birmingham earned promotion by winning the WSL 2 title last year, ending a five-year hiatus from the top division. While Manchester United has seen a quiet transfer period, internal reports suggest funds from these sales will be directed toward strengthening their roster for the upcoming season.
