Dr. Joseph Har, the Special Adviser on Internal Security to the Benue State Governor, intervened to save a man accused of theft from a violent crowd in Makurdi. The incident occurred on Ugbokolo Street when local residents began beating the suspect, identified as David, after he allegedly attempted to steal a phone and a small amount of cash from a salon.
Dr. Har arrived at the location to disperse the gathering and successfully rescued the suspect. During questioning, David admitted to the theft and identified himself as a teacher from Gboko. He explained that he had traveled to Makurdi hoping for work at the Wurukum flyover project, but found no openings. Left without money for food or travel, he turned to theft in desperation.
Seeking a constructive resolution, Dr. Har met with the General Manager of Benue Links, Comrade Alexander Fanafa, to discuss the case. The officials provided the young man with guidance and received his assurance that he would refrain from further criminal behavior. Ultimately, they granted him funds for his commute and arranged for his return to Gboko.
