Justice Rabi Talatu Umar, the Chief Judge of Bauchi State, has officially sworn in the members of the Local Government Election Tribunals, the Appeal Tribunal, the Family Court I, and the Right of Way Mobile Court. During the ceremony held at the State High Court in Bauchi, she instructed the appointees to uphold the law while maintaining complete independence and impartiality.
Justice Umar explained that these individuals were selected for their integrity, professional skill, and dedication to legal practice. She emphasized that the Local Government Election Tribunals are tasked with resolving any conflicts emerging from the upcoming local government polls. The Chief Judge explicitly directed members to avoid any bias or external influence, reminding them that all political groups must be treated fairly regardless of their status.
She stressed that public trust in the democratic process relies on the judiciary’s ability to settle disputes transparently and legally. Additionally, she reminded those assigned to the Family Court and the Right of Way Mobile Court to perform their duties with high levels of professionalism. According to local reporting, the Bauchi South tribunal will operate from the High Court in Bauchi, the Bauchi North panel will be based at the High Court in Azare, and the Central Zone proceedings will take place at the Magistrates’ Court in Ningi.
