Law enforcement officers in Bauchi State successfully interrupted a cattle rustling incident in the Bakal neighborhood, securing six cows. This operation followed a tip-off on June 23, 2026, which alerted authorities that individuals were moving stolen animals toward a riverbank near the Goskaram section of the city.
SP Nafiu Habib, the command spokesperson, confirmed that the ‘A’ Division Police Headquarters received the report. In response, police officers joined forces with local vigilante groups to locate and confront the group. Upon realizing they were being pursued, the suspects abandoned the cattle and escaped into the surroundings.
The recovered animals are currently held by the police as officials work to verify their ownership. Commissioner of Police Sani-Omolori Aliyu has initiated a thorough investigation into the matter and launched a search to capture the runaway perpetrators. He praised the responding team for their efficiency and encouraged the public to continue providing vital information to help maintain security throughout the region.
