Authorities in Bauchi State have taken seven individuals into custody for their alleged roles in an armed robbery targeting students from the Sa’adu Zungur University, Itas-Gadau Campus. The group reportedly broke into an off-campus residence known as Rahama House in Gadau early Wednesday morning.
During the confrontation, which began around 3:30 a.m., two students were wounded by machetes. The assailants escaped with two Android mobile devices. Following a distress call, officers from the Gadau Division arrived at the location under the Safe Schools Initiative. The victims were transported to the General Hospital in Azare to undergo medical care.
Law enforcement officials tracked down and arrested all seven suspects, successfully retrieving the taken property. The case has been shifted to the State Criminal Investigation Department for processing and upcoming legal proceedings. Commissioner of Police Sani-Omolori Aliyu described the violence as unacceptable and promised that all perpetrators will face the law. He emphasized that the police force remains dedicated to protecting students and encouraged the public to stay alert and report any unusual activity.
