Mohammed Barde, an ADC member and former broadcaster, has asserted that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and top figures within the All Progressives Congress are intimidated by the political stature of former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai.
During a Friday interview with Trust TV, Barde stated that the ongoing legal challenges facing El-Rufai are driven by political motives rather than genuine judicial concerns. He described El-Rufai as a figure of anxiety for the current administration, suggesting that the government intends to keep the former governor embroiled in legal battles to neutralize his influence.
To support his stance, Barde pointed to other former governors facing graver allegations who remain untouched, which he believes demonstrates that El-Rufai is being unfairly targeted. While noting the status of other opposition leaders like Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi, Barde maintained that El-Rufai is singled out due to his unique political weight.
Furthermore, Barde credited El-Rufai with being instrumental in the rise of President Tinubu and other national political players, contending that these past contributions have been overlooked by the current ruling party.
