Bandits Kill 15 in Deadly Convoy Ambush

Bandits ambushed a convoy on Wednesday, September 10, killing five soldiers and ten villagers in a fierce gun battle.

According to a survivor, the attackers had been lying in wait before suddenly opening fire on the convoy.

“The bandits emerged from hiding and attacked our convoy. The soldiers fought back bravely in a heavy exchange of gunfire. Sadly, five soldiers and ten villagers were killed,” the witness said, adding that he survived by pretending to be dead.

He said the attackers eventually retreated after suffering significant losses.

Community spokesperson Mohammed Mohammed confirmed the casualties, describing the attack as a devastating blow. He blamed poor infrastructure — particularly bad roads — for increasing residents’ vulnerability and appealed to the government at all levels to improve amenities and bolster security in the area.

Residents paid tribute to the slain soldiers, calling them “gallant heroes” who sacrificed their lives to protect civilians.

Army Media Information Officer Captain David Adewusi said he had not yet been briefed on the incident but promised to release further details soon.
