Babachir Lawal, the former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, has criticized Atiku Abubakar’s bid for the presidency, characterizing it as a low-value commodity. In a statement shared on his Facebook page this past Sunday, Lawal also scrutinized the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for their management of the gubernatorial primary in Adamawa State.
Lawal claimed that the ADC removed the original primary winner, Umar Suleiman, in favor of Tukur Moddibo. He asserted that this replacement was driven by ethnic motives and alleged that Atiku exerted influence over the party’s choice. By referencing the online retailer TEMU, Lawal likened the selection methods used by both the APC and the ADC to procuring discounted goods, suggesting that the presidential candidate himself fits this description.
Furthermore, Lawal accused the former vice president of prioritizing candidates based on religious and ethnic biases rather than merit.
