Atiku Abubakar has urged President Bola Tinubu to refrain from attributing Nigeria’s ongoing security crisis to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Represented by his media assistant, Paul Ibe, the former Vice President asserted that President Tinubu actually inherited these security vulnerabilities from the previous All Progressives Congress (APC) administration under Muhammadu Buhari.
This rebuttal followed comments from National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, who blamed the PDP for the current instability while addressing the recent kidnapping of students and teachers in Oyo State. Terrorists seized pupils and staff from LA School and Community Grammar School in Ahoro-Esinele, leading President Tinubu to eventually dispatch a delegation including Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila and Ribadu to the region.
Ibe criticized the government’s rhetoric on social media, labeling it as revisionist history. He pointed out that the administration waited two weeks to send representatives to meet with the affected families in Oriire. He emphasized that the current government must accept responsibility for its own failures in securing the release of victims in Oyo, Borno, and other regions, rather than looking back at an administration that left power over a decade ago.
