Atiku Abubakar Issues Warning to Tinubu Regarding Safety of Obi and El-Rufai

Atiku Abubakar has cautioned the Tinubu administration to prioritize national security and human rights, insisting that Peter Obi must be kept safe and Nasir El-Rufai should be released.

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has urged the federal government to prioritize citizen welfare and constitutional protections over political rivalry. He issued a firm warning that no harm must befall Peter Obi and called for the immediate release of Nasir El-Rufai. Atiku emphasized that the strength of Nigeria’s democracy is judged by how the state treats those outside the corridors of power, rather than how it exercises authority.

Highlighting the state of the nation, Atiku argued that the administration should focus on addressing urgent crises like poverty, kidnapping, and insecurity instead of attacking political opponents. He described these societal issues as the true enemies of the country, noting that constant political bickering undermines the purpose of governance. The former Vice President expressed alarm at the Presidency’s tendency to respond to criticism with personal insults, arguing that such behavior diminishes the dignity of the office and heightens political tensions.

Atiku further challenged the government to apply the same level of urgency it uses for political messaging toward rescuing abducted students, teachers, and other citizens held by criminal elements. Regarding Nasir El-Rufai, he stressed that legal processes must be fair and impartial, cautioning against the appearance of selective justice. He concluded by asserting that true leadership is built on accountability, transparency, and the courage to engage with public criticism using facts rather than defensive propaganda.
