Arsenal to sign Christos Tzolis: Club Brugge coach Ivan Leko reacts

Club Brugge manager Ivan Leko reacts to the departure of Christos Tzolis, who is set to join Arsenal for £33.8 million.

Ivan Leko, the manager of Club Brugge, has shared his disappointment regarding the departure of star attacker Christos Tzolis to Arsenal. The 24-year-old Greek international is reportedly moving to the Premier League side for a transfer fee of £33.8 million.

Tzolis was notably absent from the lineup during Club Brugge’s 3-2 pre-season defeat against Heerenveen on July 17. Leko confirmed the winger’s exit, acknowledging that losing such a talented individual is difficult for the team.

The coach lauded the former Norwich City player for his work ethic, noting that Tzolis’ commitment to improvement served as a model for younger players. Leko expressed confidence that the winger would thrive at Arsenal, where he will compete in the Premier League and the Champions League. He emphasized that the transfer is a deserved reward for the dedication Tzolis displayed daily.

Since arriving at the Jan Breydel Stadium from Norwich City in 2024 for €6 million, Tzolis established himself as a dominant force. Over 108 matches for the Belgian club, he recorded 43 goals and 45 assists. His performance in the 2025-26 season was particularly impressive, featuring 22 goals and 29 assists across 52 games.
