Leaders of the All Progressives Congress from all 36 states have gathered in Lagos to focus on bolstering the party’s local base in preparation for the 2027 general elections. The three-day event, organized by the Forum of APC State Chairmen, began with a dinner hosted by Lagos State party chairman Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi.
Ojelabi emphasized that the role of state chairmen goes beyond simple administration, acting as essential links between national leaders and party members across Nigeria. He highlighted that the party’s influence depends on strong local leadership and the successful implementation of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which aims to resolve historical national issues.
The meeting also featured remarks from the chairman of Conference 57, Sesan Olowa, who leads the local government chairmen in Lagos. Olowa confirmed the commitment of all 57 council heads to both President Tinubu and Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu. He encouraged his colleagues to maintain focus on grassroots mobilization and to foster internal unity to secure the party’s future success.
During the session, Ojelabi praised Governor Sanwo-Olu for his ongoing contributions to infrastructure and human development in Lagos. He also acknowledged the support of the National Working Committee and various legislative and party stakeholders, noting that collective action is vital for maintaining public trust and sustaining the APC’s political influence.
