Manchester City forward Antoine Semenyo has expressed enthusiasm for new manager Enzo Maresca’s tactical vision, describing the style of play as perfectly suited to his strengths. During a preseason match against Inter Milan in Hong Kong, City displayed the attacking ambition Maresca intends to implement following the departure of Pep Guardiola.
Semenyo, who spent the first half of the match challenging Inter defender Andy Diouf with his pace, noted that Maresca encourages wide players to remain high up the pitch and engage in one-on-one situations. The forward highlighted that he had discussed these tactical expectations directly with the Italian coach during private meetings.
Since joining City from Bournemouth for £65 million in January, Semenyo has enjoyed a productive spell, netting 21 goals for club and country last season, including the winner in the FA Cup final. He credits both his former time at Bournemouth and his initial months under Guardiola for his professional development.
Beyond his football career, Semenyo maintains a strong focus on his Christian faith. He was recently baptised and frequently prays with teammates like Jeremy Doku and Marc Guehi before matches. For Semenyo, his religious convictions take priority over his profession, as he believes his talents and mentality are gifts he must use to honor God.
