Anambra Road Crash Leaves Three Dead and Four Injured

A commercial truck fire following a mechanical failure has claimed three lives and left four others injured on the Nnobi–Agulu–Awka Road in Anambra.

A single-vehicle accident on the Nnobi–Agulu–Awka Road has resulted in three fatalities and four injuries. Bridget Asekhauno, the Anambra Sector Commander for the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), reported that the incident took place on Friday near St Jude Catholic Church in Adazi-Ani.

The vehicle, a Mercedes-Benz 608 commercial truck with plate number XB270NNL, reportedly suffered a mechanical failure while traveling. This fault triggered a fire, causing the driver to lose control and strike a roadside barrier, which led the truck to overturn. Fire trapped several of the seven male occupants inside the burning vehicle.

FRSC emergency teams responded to the scene to manage traffic and remove the wreckage. Asekhauno extended her condolences to the grieving families and wished the survivors a swift recovery. She urged commercial drivers to prioritize regular vehicle maintenance and avoid carrying dangerous or flammable goods in passenger areas to prevent similar tragedies.
