Anambra Police Searching for Teacher Accused of Flogging Student to Death

Anambra police have initiated a search for a teacher involved in the death of a 12-year-old student after a severe flogging incident in Adazi-Ani.

The Safe School Initiative unit within the Anambra Police Command is actively searching for a teacher suspected of fatally flogging a 12-year-old student. SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the state police spokesperson, confirmed the incident took place on July 16 in Adazi-Ani, located in the Anaocha Local Government Area.

Led by Assistant Commissioner of Police Harrison Oruruo, the unit is tracking the suspect. Police officers from the Neni Division arrived at the scene following the report and transported the child to a hospital, where medical staff declared him dead. The body was subsequently moved to a mortuary to await an autopsy. Examiners noted signs of physical abuse on the child during an initial inspection.

Authorities have pledged to conduct a complete and impartial investigation to hold the perpetrator accountable. The police remain focused on the safety of students and are asking anyone with relevant information to come forward.
