Plateau State authorities have taken four individuals into custody regarding the violent death of Ibrahim Mbaya, a local model and University of Jos alumnus frequently referred to as Ibee. Law enforcement officials confirmed that six attackers participated in the fatal incident, and they are currently searching for the remaining two participants.
DSP Alfred Alabo, the Police Public Relations Officer, stated on Tuesday that police were alerted by a witness regarding a young man hospitalized in critical condition. Despite medical efforts, Mbaya succumbed to his injuries. Following an investigation, police arrested three suspects who admitted to their involvement, followed by a fourth apprehension.
Among those identified are Emmanuel Newyear, who was allegedly spotted striking the victim with a wooden plank, and Joshua Tell. The police are collaborating with the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) to track down the final two suspects. NANS representatives were present during the suspect parade to express their opposition to the act.
DSP Alabo emphasized that the command is determined to secure justice and issued a firm warning against vigilante violence, urging citizens to report crimes to the police instead. The incident has triggered significant public anger in Jos, prompting calls for legal action against mob violence within the state.
