Senator Ali Ndume of Borno South has stated that President Bola Tinubu faces significant challenges because his inner circle lacks the courage to challenge his decisions. During a recent interview with Trust TV on Friday, the senator noted that he has managed to secure only two meetings with the president since his inauguration in 2023.
Ndume attributed the lack of critical feedback to the nature of the president’s professional relationships. He claimed that nearly all of the individuals within the president’s immediate orbit rely on him for financial support, just as they did before he reached the presidency. According to Ndume, this dependency prevents them from offering honest counsel or cautioning the president when a policy or action is misguided.
The senator remarked that because these aides were previously supported by Tinubu, they are unable to look him in the eye and frankly state when a particular approach is not working for the country.
