This result follows a third-place finish in the 100m event held earlier in the week. Despite his status as the most accomplished breaststroker in history, Ramsay-Peaty noted that he is currently unable to replicate his best times. He characterized his current training cycle as unsustainable, citing a need to re-evaluate his preparation strategies under his new coach, Lisa Bates, in London.
While disappointed by the outcome, the Olympic champion remains focused on the future. He previously identified the 50m distance as a key opportunity for his continued career heading toward the 2028 Olympic cycle. Ramsay-Peaty emphasized that his current training transition, which began only months ago, requires more time to yield results, noting that building toward success is a long-term investment rather than an immediate fix.
