Everton has officially recruited Finnish forward Jutta Rantala from Leicester City. The 26-year-old was under contract with Leicester for another year, but Everton reportedly triggered an undisclosed release clause to secure her transfer. This marks the third player Everton has acquired from Leicester this summer, following the arrivals of Noemie Mouchon and Hannah Cain.
Rantala joined Leicester in 2023 from the Swedish side Vittsjo GIK, contributing 13 goals across 48 games. During the 2023-24 season, she earned recognition as Leicester’s top scorer and player of the year, though a knee injury hampered her more recent campaign. The forward has also represented Finland 36 times, netting 10 goals, and participated in the Euro 2025 tournament.
Her exit comes as Leicester undergoes a roster overhaul following their relegation from the Women’s Super League this past June. She is the sixth player to leave the club during the current transfer window. Everton, meanwhile, is aiming to improve upon their eighth-place finish from last season under the leadership of new manager Scott Phelan, who has overseen six total signings this summer.
