Professor Christopher Imumolen, the National Chairman of the Accord party, announced on Thursday that the party has officially withdrawn its support for Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke. This decision was revealed during the All Progressives Congress (APC) rally in Osogbo.
The party’s leadership stated that the National Working Committee has aligned behind the APC gubernatorial candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, commonly referred to as AMBO, for the upcoming August 15 election. Imumolen called on all Accord members throughout the state to cast their ballots for Oyebamiji and the APC.
This shift follows the cancellation of a previously planned Accord rally due to internal organizational challenges. Senator Hope Uzodinma, representing the Progressives Governors’ Forum, attended the event to express solidarity, encouraging Osun residents to choose the APC for regional prosperity. Addressing the crowd, Oyebamiji promised a governance style centered on public welfare and effective administration, dismissing theatrics in favor of concrete results. Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, reinforced this endorsement by highlighting Oyebamiji’s proven experience as a reliable choice for the state’s leadership.
