A Federal High Court located in Abuja has rejected a bail request for a man taken into custody by the Department of State Services for supposedly orchestrating threats against various schools within the Federal Capital Territory.
Justice Joyce Abdulmalik turned down the bail plea from John Jude Agbo once the prosecution finished presenting its fourth witness and finalized its arguments. Agbo is currently answering to accusations of terrorism and cyber-related offenses concerning the alleged intent to endanger students and faculty members.
In her decision, the judge stated that the defendant failed to prove he would not evade legal proceedings if released. Consequently, the court mandated that Agbo remain under the supervision of the Nigerian Correctional Service. During the session, a DSS operative described the investigation into Agbo and his alleged associates, providing audio-visual documentation of an interrogation session that was subsequently accepted as formal evidence.
The legal proceedings are now scheduled to resume on September 24, at which point the defendant will begin presenting his defense.
