Abducted Oyo principal details four-hour journey into forest hideout

A rescued school principal explains how gunmen moved her and other captives across four hours of wilderness paths on motorcycles following their May abduction.

Rachael Folawe Alamu, the principal of Community High School in the Oriire region of Oyo State, shared harrowing details regarding her recent kidnapping. Following her release, she informed Governor Seyi Makinde during a handover event organized by the Nigerian Army that she and other captives were transported deep into the wilderness over several hours.

According to Alamu, the captors initially used her personal vehicle to reach a rendezvous point where they met a group of primary school children and teachers who were also being held. After an hour of walking, the kidnappers provided ten motorcycles to transport the group. She noted that they navigated through unknown paths for over four hours, though the gunmen appeared well-acquainted with the terrain.

These victims, who were originally taken on May 15, successfully regained their liberty on July 10.
